An encounter between Philippe Griot’s passion for the earth and wine and a plot consisting of old grenache vines, surrounded by scrubland, and full of promise……..
A symbol of friendship, this vintage gives off a roasted cacao aroma, with red fruit and prune flavours. Full-bodied with light tannins and an end note of raspberries.
On a plateau of small limestone pebbles.
Climate and aspectThe Mediterranean climate benefits from the cooler air of the nearby hills. The vineyards are located on a south-easterly facing slope which makes them ideally placed to benefit from the sunshine.
Grape VarietyPrimarily Grenache. A plot consisting of old grenache vines, surrounded by scrubland.
The VineyardOrganic agriculture. Work in the vineyard is undertaken with a great deal of respect for the environment, the stock, and the grape. The natural limitations of the soil mean yields are 15 hl/ha. Leaves are stripped from the north side of trailing vines and the soil, subject to erosion, is covered in grass. Organic fertilisers make it possible to maintain the microbial life and the structure of the soils.
WinemakingThe grapes are harvested manually in small boxes and are sorted on the plot. After destemming, the winemaking takes place in small barrels. The extraction of polyphenols and anthocyanins is carried out by the addition of must and punching the caps of the grape skins. Placed in vats for 6 to 8 weeks. The malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels and aged for 12 months in four-year-old barrels.
